Könnte das mal einer übersetzen für einen der das letzte mal zu seiner Nato Zeit English gesprochen hat?Hallo liebe Gelblinge, MitstreiterInnen, stille und aktive Leute hier im mdRzA-Fred.
Ich habe lange nachgedacht, ob ich dieses posten soll. Aber dann weiss ich auch, hier gehoert das hin. Wenn nicht hier, wo sonst? Was ihr jetzt lesen werdet hat ein sehr, sehr guter Freund von mir am 02. Dezember auf FB gepostet. Sonst nicht seine Art, aber an diesem Jahrestag hatte er das Beduerfnis.
Er ist einer der liebsten, humorvollsten und warmherzigsten Menschen, von denen ich das Glueck habe, ihn zu kennen. Ein starker Fahrer und noch staerkerer Mensch, der mir immer mit Rat und Tat beiseite steht.
"20 years ago today, 2 December 1994, a young man of 21 was driving to his girl friend’s house. As he was in a bit of a hurry after work he thought that he could safely overtake another car that was travelling in the same direction. He accelerated up to 70-75 mph (Anm. d. CoS: 112-120kmh) to pass the other car. However part way through the overtake he encountered a cyclist approaching from the opposite direction. It was too late to do anything and ploughed head-on in to the cyclist.
Both cars came to a halt and the drivers jumped out of the cars. It was dark as it was about 7.00pm. They couldn’t see the cyclist but could hear his screams. He was in the field next to the road. Another car arrived on the scene and a man got out to see what was happening as the other two cars were parked across the road preventing him driving past. He enquired what was wrong and the first two drivers explained what had occurred. Fortunately for the cyclist the driver forced to stop was a doctor who volunteered with the Mid Anglia General Practitioner Accident Service (MAGPAS) and had experience of dealing with serious trauma victims. He had been on his way to visit a friend who lived in the village that the cyclist had just recently passed by.
The third driver was able to locate the cyclist lying in the field some 30 metres from the accident site. The driver called his friend to explain that he was delayed by an accident and needed assistance as the cyclist had serious injuries, possible spinal injuries so would not be able to address the issues by himself. He requested that his friend come to the scene immediately and that he should inform his father so that he could attend the scene also.
Some minutes later the father and son arrived and the cyclist now had 3 MAGPAS doctors attending to him. There were no identification documents on the cyclist so they did not know who he was. They just turned their attention to saving the cyclists life. The cyclist had suffered a traumatic amputation of the right leg below the knee. Compound fractures to the tibia and fibula of the left leg. Closed fracture to the femur on the right leg. Fractures to the ulna and radius of the right arm. Compound fracture to the right elbow and humorous. Fractured rib and punctured lung. As it transpired no spinal injury.
The identity of the cyclist? Well that was me. The doctors? Jurgen Kline, Neville and Paul Silverstone. Without them and the fantastic work that MAGPAS carries out I would not be here 20 years later and still cycling! I will be forever in the debt of the Jurgen, Neville, Paul and MAGPAS. My thanks goes out to them all and it’s great to know that they are still providing this life saving service."
