Bin noch neu im Thema Maps-design, gibt es auch ein kontrastreicheres Theme passend speziell für den Ace? Die Originalfarben sind mir viel zu blass.

I'm still new to map design. Is there a higher-contrast theme specifically for the Ace? The original colors are much too pale for me.

Seit Anfang 08.2025 gibt es ein neues Firmware Update von Wahoo, das die Folgen Hinweise nicht mehr zulässt. Es gab Änderungen in Sicherheit und Kartenansicht, die Kartenanpassungen, wie sie unten beschrieben sind, lassen sich so nicht mehr verwenden.

To my knowledge there is no ACE specific theme. But as all modern device versions share the maps and the theme there is no need for a device specific theme really.
The theme from Wahoo now is a very lightly (and I mean very lightly) modified version of the standard mapsforge theme which is indeed bland like most modern maps are (Google etc).

If you use my custom maps from http://wahoomaps.higli.de/ I would highly recommend to use my theme which is also there. If you use the Wahoo default maps it's fine to use the zenziwerken theme mentioned above

Are your customs maps also available for North Africa, Turkey, Georgia and Middle East? Or is it a Europe Version? Thanks!

I used to create new world wide maps every 3 months, due to low demand for other regions my last run was limited to just Europe.
The build month is in the folder name. The last run for most of what you mention is last April. A lot more recent than Wahoo's and Georgia is from this month.

If you can specify more clearly what countries you need (North Africa and Middle East is a little vague (for me)) I might be able to create new ones.

Thank you April 2025 is fantastic and enough for a try.
In my experiences OSM is not so up to date in North Africa. A lot of comments to change but nobody who did it. So I learned a little bit to handle the OSM Tools to fix big issues. There are not many new roads or big changes, usually just changes like tarmac instead gravel, closed roads because earthquake or scree slopes/landslide etc.

I am a digital Nomad, so I have the possibility to ride in a lot countries and to discover them.

With North Africa I mean primary Morocco, West Sahara and Tunesia. Algeria and Lybia are not so easy to enter and not so save. Egypt is maybe interesting for people who make holiday by plane.
Middle East (Arabian Peninsula) was last year our plan but because of some attacks between Israel and Iran we decided not to go for winter to Oman and visit Irak,Iran, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait and Jordan. I hope it will be possible soon.
BTW: A lot people who visit Georgia will also visit Armenia and Azerbaijan.

Wow... Wish I could say the same.
I generate maps for the entire world and never leave my own tile on the bicycle

After 22 years of riding the same car I am collecting my new car Friday, this one will have the possibility to take my bike with me, so with a little luck I will make it all the way to the next tile some day

If you want, give the maps a try and if you like/use them let me know what to generate!

Since I don't have a Microsoft account, I can't write anything into the file. So I use this thread instead: Two or three times a year, I download your routing files for my home region in northern Germany. And at least twice a year, I also download the routing tiles for the regions where I go on vacation, which is usually South Tyrol and Fjord Norway.

It has already been mentioned in the "themes" thread. But if you want to use custom themes do NOT upgrade to the latest firmware!
Wahoo made quite some changes and the custom theme's do not work anymore atm. In the Telegram group we are searching for a solution. (if still possible)

Until now I only see a new firmware version for the v3 devices - which has the mentioned problem. Any news on new firmware for the older devices which might be affected?

Since we’re on that topic: How to disable automatic updates on the v2? Couldn’t find anything on the iOS Element app or the device itself.

Only way is to not give the device access to WiFi.

No not yet(?).

Wahoo has to follow the RED directive 2200/30 for devices they are selling after August 1st 2025 in the EU, that's why they decided to lock the direct file access, add the option for a passcode, etc.. Gen2 devices are not sold anymore (by Wahoo), so I would guess that these features won't come to Gen2 or earlier devices.

Answer from wahoo support:

"Included with this update are structural changes to device access via USB in order to meet EU CE Red guidelines. Wahoo Fitness is happy that users were able to make modifications to their mapping experience, however that function was not an intended feature. The changes that may have broken this modification cannot be rolled back due to compliance with EU Regulations.

We have escalated this disabling of VTM Rendering up to our Developers for review. I cannot guarantee any changes will come from this escalation, but hopefully it can help them look into how to proceed with future updates to Maps and Navigation."
