I only asked for experiences with that frameset, i did not talk about my exspectations^^

Gios Bike #5 1974/75 Vintage?

It had been sitting if an old Frenchman's garage for a few decades.

What is highly unusual about this bike is the eyelets for bar-end shifters and the head tube is small for the size of the bike. Its 58 c-t and 56 c-c.

To the best of my knowledge, the only other road Gios I have seen so far with the eyelets is Sercu's 1975 bike.

It also has the short drop outs.

I will restore it back to its original condition and take to the Raduno in May.

It does look smaller than it is.

Das "Projekt" ist ein Gios Professional in Chrom von 1985. Wenn möglich möchte ich nicht auf eine Klebebildlösung zurückgreifen, sondern die originalgetreue Variante inkl. Nieten.
Sieht hier jemand eine Chance sowas zu bekommen, hat jemand was rumliegen oder hat jemand einen Tipp?

Mir hat vor Jahren auch mal ein lieber Mitforumisto eine geschenkt. Gelegentlich taucht auch mal eine in der Bucht auf...

Ach sorry, die Anzeige tauchte auf der Suche bei den Steuerrohrschildern auf.

So the bike has been fully restored and was taken to the Gios Raduno last week in Torino.

It was checked out by Aldo and Marco Gios in the shop, as it has unusual features in the eyelets and short headtube. No braze on's for down tube shifters.

Aldo confirmed that the eyelets were only made for road bikes for Patrick Sercu. It is a one off custom for him. That's it. They checked the bottom bracket height to make sure it wasn't a CX (strada height), and he measured the seat tube to confirm it was either a 58 or 59. Its a 58. Sercu had bikes in both sizes.

There were two other Sercu bikes at the Raduno. One was a Gilardi with drill holes through the braze on's shifters so it could use bar end shifters (unfortunaltely didn't take photos, but was found by the owner in a cellar). The other was a Gios like this one but a 59, as was bought off the team in the mid 70's.
