"Paralympic gold medallist and multiple national record holder Adam Duggleby added the 100-mile national competition record to his list when he powered to victory in the Eastern Counties CA time trial in Cambridgeshire yesterday.
Duggleby, 32 from Leeds, covered the distance in 3-16-51, slicing 4-40 from the two-year-old mark and taking victory on the day by more than two minutes from his nearest rival.
It proved to be a near-perfect day all-round in Cambridgeshire with London’s Alice Lethbridge also setting a new women’s national record with a time of 3-42-37, while the GS Metro trio of Danny Grieves, Carl Donaldson and Ben Lane combined to set a new national team record. Elsewhere, Kippax all-rounder James Gullen broke the 11-year-old course record held by Sir Bradley Wiggins when he took victory in Saturday evening’s Kent Valley Road Club 10-mile time trial in Cumbria. Gullen, the 27-year-old who won the An Post Ras eight-day stage race in Ireland this month, covered the course near Levens in 17-54, taking just four seconds from Wiggins’ previous best."
